Individual Therapy FAQ

Do I need to be in crisis to come to therapy?

No. Many people come to therapy feeling anxious, low, stressed, overwhelmed, or simply stuck without knowing exactly why. You don’t need a crisis or a clear reason to begin, curiosity or a sense that something needs attention is enough.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is a chance to settle in and see whether therapy feels right for you. We’ll talk about what brings you to counselling, what you’re hoping for, and any questions or concerns you may have.

I’ll also explain how therapy works, including confidentiality and boundaries. There’s no pressure to share anything before you’re ready.

What if I don't know what to say?

That’s very common. You don’t need to have a clear starting point. We can take things slowly and figure things out together.

How long are sessions?

Each session lasts 50 minutes.

How many sessions will I need?

There’s no fixed number. Some people attend for a short period, while others choose longer-term therapy. We can review things together as we go, based on what feels helpful for you.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is a core part of therapy. What you share in sessions is private and respected.

There are a small number of situations where confidentiality may need to be broken, such as when there are serious concerns about safety or where disclosure is required by law. These situations are handled carefully and ethically.

What if I feel nervous about starting?

That’s completely normal. Many people feel unsure or anxious before their first session. Therapy is approached at your pace, and you are always in control of what you choose to share.

Do I need to prepare anything?

No preparation is needed. Just come as you are.

How do I pay for sessions?

Payment is made in advance of your session via a secure payment link. Details are provided at the time of booking.

What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. This time is reserved specifically for you.

If less than 48 hours’ notice is given, the full session fee is usually charged. In cases of genuine emergency or unforeseen circumstances, this is handled with care and understanding.

How much do sessions cost?

Sessions cost €70

How do I get started?

If you’re thinking about therapy and would like to book a session or ask any questions, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
