About The Therapy Hub Cork

My name is Claudia O'Keeffe and I am a Counsellor and Psychotherapist at The Therapy Hub Cork. I offer a warm, supportive space for adolescents and adults to explore whatever brings them to therapy, whether that’s anxiety, low mood, stress, feeling stuck, or simply wanting to understand yourself better.

Starting counselling can feel daunting. Many people arrive unsure of where to begin, or questioning whether their difficulties are “serious enough.” Therapy is not only for times of crisis. It is for anyone who feels they could benefit from support, reflection, or space to make sense of their experiences.

My approach is human, collaborative, and non-judgemental. I work at your pace, beginning exactly where you are. Therapy is not about being fixed or analysed, but about being listened to, understood, and supported in a way that feels safe and respectful.

I work with both adolescents and adults, offering age-appropriate, ethical, and confidential therapy. With adolescents, confidentiality and safeguarding are handled with care, transparency, and respect for the young person’s voice. Parents and guardians are involved at the outset, while ongoing work supports the adolescent’s independence and emotional development.

Experience & professional background

Alongside my formal training, I bring many years of experience working in youth work, youth advocacy, and family support. This background has shaped a grounded, practical understanding of the challenges young people and families face in real life, not just in theory.

I have also worked as a support worker within a domestic violence project, supporting individuals affected by coercive control, trauma, and complex relational dynamics. This work continues to inform a trauma-aware, safety-focused approach to therapy.

In addition, I have worked as a therapist within a community-based practice for nearly three years, supporting clients across a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. This experience has reinforced the importance of accessible, ethical, and collaborative therapeutic work.

Qualifications & professional standing

I am a counsellor and psychotherapist and a pre-accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), working in line with their ethical framework.

I hold a BSc (Hons) degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy from Coventry University, alongside a range of additional training, certifications, and ongoing professional development. I engage in regular clinical supervision and remain committed to reflective, ethical practice.

The way I work

I believe therapy works best when there is trust, clarity, and collaboration. You won’t be rushed, judged, or expected to have all the answers. Whether you are coming for individual therapy or supporting a young person, my aim is to offer a steady, thoughtful presence and a space where things can be explored safely.

Therapy at The Therapy Hub Cork is grounded in respect — for your experience, your pace, and your capacity for change.

Taking the next step

If you’re considering therapy for yourself or your teenager, you don’t need to be certain before you begin. Feeling unsure, curious, or ready for support are all valid places to start.
